The Bantam (2nd-3rd Grade) Basketball League is geared toward players in 2nd-3rd Grade serving as an introduction to the sport of basketball. The league is held in the Fall of the year. Skills to be taught in this league include dribbling, passing, shooting and defense/footwork. Utilizing practice plans focused on teaching fundamentals and building upon those throughout the season to contribute to the growth of the total athlete. Incorporated in this process is our First Friends Sports Ministry Devotional program to enhance each athlete’s development outside of practices and games. For this league, players use Junior size basketballs (27.5) and play with the hoop adjusted to a height of 8 feet.
League Dates: Fall 2023 Session: September 14 – November 4
Fee: $50.00 league fee
$20.00 jersey fee. Black/red reversible basketball jersey from First Friends Sports. If you purchased one in previous years you do not need to purchase a new one.
Refund policy: $5.00 fee retained if refund requested. No refund will be given to any player who withdraws after the second week of practices. An exception may be granted at the discretion of the staff due to medical reasons only. Further, no refund will be given to any player removed from the league during the course of the season for disciplinary reasons.
Registration: Registration is available online with debit/credit card at our website. Please check your email immediately after completing the registration online for a confirmation email. If you do not receive one, please call the sports office at 330-966-6868. Paper registrations will be available in the church brochure racks by Aug 2 and can be turned in at the Welcome Desk with check/cash payment Mon-Fri 9am-3pm.
Registrations will be accepted until the league fills up Sept 8, whichever occurs first.

First Practice: Sept 14 There are no skill assessments for this league. Check website for posting of Team Rosters and Practice Times week before league begins.
Practice Day and Times: One day a week, Thursday at 5:00 or 6:00pm
Required Parent Meeting: During your child’s first practice on Sept 14.
Parents: Please consider coaching your child’s team. Please view the “Coaches Resources” below.
Game Day and Times: Saturdays at 9am or 10am.
End of Season Celebration: November 4 after the Parent vs Kids game.
Weather Cancellation Policy: Evening activities will be re-evaluated by staff and decisions for cancellation will be made and posted on website one hour prior to start of activity.
