General Information

The First Friends Church (FFC) Women’s Volleyball League is composed of women age 18 and over and played indoors at First Friends Church gym. It is intended to provide fun competition and fellowship in a warm and friendly environment. Individual registrations  will be accepted. Individuals will be assigned teams after the assessment. We will accept women who are age 17+ with parental permission.

There will be a short devotional time where we share biblical principles with the players and encourage them to pursue a life with Christ every week.

Date:  2020 Season:  May 19 – July 28

Registration:  Deadline to register for Summer 2020 May 19, or when league fills up, whichever occurs first. Payment due with registration. Register online for individual with debit/credit card or at church Welcome Desk with check/cash.  Office hours Mon-Fri 9am-4:30pm.  Please call first to see when offices are open due to the coronavirus.

Fee:  $40.00 includes Team Jersey ($5.00 fee for all refunds)
No refund will be given to any player or team who withdraws on or after the first week of games. An exception may be granted at the discretion of the staff due to medical reasons only. Further, no refund will be given to any player removed from the league during the course of the season for disciplinary reasons.

Important Information

2020 Information.  Team maximum of 8 players, minimum of 6 players.  Fees include team shirts. You can play with a minimum of 4 players, as long as you keep a 6s rotation.

Game Day:  Tuesdays  No games scheduled for June 23, due to VBS  Times:  6pm, 7pm or 8pm

Location:  First Friends Church Gym
Eight games plus two tournament games.  Team shirt included with fee.

Women age 17+ can register, with parental permission.  Please indicate on form if you participated on your school volleyball team this past school year.  The OSHAA rules state:
Max of 3 girls from the same school team per team. If their school coach actually plays, it can only be a max of 10 days from June 1 – July 31st . So if a school coach were to sign up, they would either need a different team or not play the first 2 games in May.

Skill Assessment:  May 19, 2020 6pm   Located inside FFC gym.  Individuals will be assigned teams after assessments.

Team Rosters and Game Schedule will be posted after May 19.

Please note that when we list ‘boy’s/men’s’ or ‘girl’s/women’s’ we are referring to the birth gender of the participant. For all of our leagues, classes, unless they are designated as Coed, it is our policy that players participate within the gender designation that complies with the previous statement. 2018-2019 GENERAL SPORTS REGULATIONS

OSHAA rules:

7.3) Regulations Permitting Students to Participate on Non-School Teams Outside of the School Team’s Season

7.3.1) Selected Team Sports – A member of a school program or team in the team sports of base-ball, basketball, field hockey, ice hockey, lacrosse, soccer, softball and volleyball may participate with a non-school program or team in contests, tryouts, training and/or practices prior to and after the school team’s season under the following condition:a) The number of team members on the non-school team who came from the same school or who participated in that sport as a team member at another school in the preceding season is limited to a maximum of 50 percent of the members of a team as defined in the playing rules of the sport. The 50 percent team limit is as follows:  Volleyball   3 participants

Exceptions

b.) The 50 percent team limit is not in effect for the sports of basketball, field hockey, ice hockey, lacrosse, soccer and volleyball from June 1 through July 31.

7.5) Regulations Permitting Coaches to Coach Their Own Student-Athletes on Non-School Teams Outside of the School Team’s Season
7.5.1) Team and Selected Individual Sports (10-Day Rule) – Members of a school team’s coaching staff in the team sports of baseball, basketball, field hockey, football, ice hockey, lacrosse, soccer, softball and volleyball and the individual sports of cross country, track and field and wrestling may coach students from their school teams for a maximum of 10 days from June 1 through July 31.
