General Information

The First Friends Church (FFC) Women’s Volleyball League is composed of women age 18 and over and played indoors at First Friends Church gym. It is intended to provide fun competition and fellowship in a warm and friendly environment. Individual registrations  will be accepted. Individuals will be assigned teams after the assessment. We will accept women who are age 17+ with parental permission.  There will be a short devotional time where we share biblical principles with the players and encourage them to pursue a life with Christ every week.

 

Date:  May 16 – July 25, 2023

 

Fee:  $40.00 (2022 fee subject to change)
Refund Policy: ($5.00 fee retained)  No refund will be given to any player or team who withdraws on or after the first week of games. An exception may be granted at the discretion of the staff due to medical reasons only. Further, no refund will be given to any player removed from the league during the course of the season for disciplinary reasons.

 

 

Registration:   Registration is available online and paper forms will be in the church brochure racks by Friday, March 24.   Fee is due at time of registration, online for individual with debit/credit card or at church Welcome Desk with paper form and check/cash.  Office hours are Mon-Fri 9am-3pm.  Click above on “Register Now” to register online with debit/credit card.

Game Day/Time:  Tuesdays at 6pm 7pm or 8pm

 

Assessment Date/Time:  May 16 at 8:15pm – 9:30pm

 

Team maximum of 8 players, minimum of 6 players.  You can play with a minimum of 4 players, as long as you keep a 6s rotation.

Women age 17+ can register, with parental permission.   Please indicate on form if you participated on your school volleyball team this past school year.   Please read the information under Parent Resources.

 

Please note that when we list ‘boy’s/men’s’ or ‘girl’s/women’s’ we are referring to the birth gender of the participant. For all of our leagues, classes, unless they are designated as Coed, it is our policy that players participate within the gender designation that complies with the previous statement. We want to thank you for your understanding and cooperation in this matter.

 

 

 

Weather Cancellation Policy:  Evening activities will be re-evaluated by staff and decisions for cancellation will be made and posted on website one hour prior to start of activity.

2020-2021 GENERAL SPORTS REGULATIONS

OSHAA rules:

7.3) Regulations Permitting Students to Participate on Non-School Teams Outside of the School Team’s Season

7.3.1) Team Sports (Other Than Football) – A member of a school program or team in the team sports of baseball, basketball, field hockey, ice hockey, lacrosse, soccer, softball and volleyball may participate with a non-school program or team in contests, tryouts, training and/or practices prior to and after the school team’s season under the following condition:a) The number of team members on the non-school team who came from the same school or who participated in that sport as a team member at another school in the preceding season is limited to a maximum of 50 percent of the members of a team as defined in the playing rules of the sport. Rotating players from the same school team is not permitted in the 50 percent player limitation. The 50 percent team limit is as follows:  Volleyball 3 participants

Exceptions

b.) The 50 percent team limit is not in effect for the sports of basketball, field hockey, ice hockey, lacrosse, soccer and volleyball from June 1 through August 31, 2020, only. Beginning June 1, 2021, the period will remain from June 1-July 31.

e.) Graduating seniors are exempt from the 50 percent participation limitation once their school season in the same sport has been completed.

7.5) Regulations Permitting Coaches to Coach Their Own Student-Athletes on Non-School Teams Outside of the School Team’s Season
7.5.1) Team Sports Members of a school team’s coaching staff in the team sports of baseball, basketball, field hockey, football, ice hockey, lacrosse, soccer, softball and volleyball may coach students from their school teams from June 1 through August 31*, 2020, without restrictions except that participation cannot be mandatory. In addition:*Note: The extension of these dates through August 31 is valid only for the 2020 summer period. Beginning with the 2021 summer period, the period of unrestricted coaching for interscholastic team sports coaches with their student athletes will return to the period from June 1-July 31.

Parent Resources

The OSHAA rules state:
Max of 3 girls from the same school team per team. If their school coach actually plays, it can only be June 1 – July 31st .   See rules under “Coaches Resources”.
