The Boys Basketball League is for boys of all skill levels in Grades 4-6. The league is divided into divisions, based on skill level. Skills to be taught in this league include dribbling, passing, shooting and defending. In competing with others in the community, boys and girls are able to develop a strong ethic of sportsmanship, learning to compete in a friendly manner. Incorporated in this process is our First Friends Sports Ministry Devotional program to enhance each athlete’s development outside of practices and games.
League Dates: August 27 – November 2, 2024
Fee: $85.00 league fee
$20.00 jersey fee. Black/red reversible basketball jersey from First Friends Sports. If you purchased one in previous years you do not need to purchase a new one.
Refund policy: $5.00 fee retained if refund requested. No refund will be given to any player who withdraws after the second week of practices. An exception may be granted at the discretion of the staff due to medical reasons only. Further, no refund will be given to any player removed from the league during the course of the season for disciplinary reasons.
Registration: Registration is available online and paper forms will be in the church brochure racks by Friday, July 28. Registrations will be accepted until the league fills up or Aug 28, whichever occurs first.

**Disclaimer: Please note that fairness and positive competition are a high priority in our program. Thus, our league leadership reserves the right to alter team rosters/move players once scrimmages have been played in order to balance teams if necessary. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.
Skill Assessment Dates: (Plan to attend both assessment dates)
1st Assessment: Aug 27 5pm–A-K. 6pm–L-Z. If you are unable to attend the assigned assessment time, please email sports@firstfriends.org.
2nd Assessment: Aug 29 6pm & 7pm–The schedule will be posted on this website page after the first assessments. It is important to be at both of the skill assessments your child is scheduled for. If not able to attend, please email Sports Office at sports@firstfriends.org.
Mandatory Parent’s Meeting: during your child’s second assessment on Thursday, Aug 29.
Note to Parents: Parent’s Meeting is mandatory. It is highly recommended that all parents attend the meeting for league child is registered in, if not possible please call the Sports Office at 330-966-6868.
Practice Day and Times: Tuesdays 5pm or 6pm, possibly 4pm if needed. First practice Saturday, Sept 7 at 11am or 12pm.
Game Day and Times: Saturdays, Times: 12:30pm or 1:30pm. Some weekday games at end of season are possible.
End of Season Celebration: Saturday, Nov 2 after the games are played.
Policy Statement: (Oct 12, 2017) Please note that when we list ‘boy’s/men’s’ or ‘girl’s/women’s’ we are referring to the birth gender of the participant. For all of our leagues, classes, unless they are designated as Coed, it is our policy that players participate within the gender designation that complies with the previous statement.
