2023 Sports Camp Information, subject to change for 2024

Why does the camp cost so much?

Our Sports camp is more costly then it has been in the past. The reason for this is we are providing trained counselors to help facilitate and lead campers through the stations and activities. In order to ensure our counselors can be available all week, we are now employing our counselors and offering them a weekly wage to work with us all week. We are following the ratios for day care when it comes to campers to counselors, so we will have multiple counselors on each team.

Does my child have to love sports to attend Sports Camp?

No. Your child just has to love to play. Our camp will have some stations for kids to learn to play soccer, basketball, volleyball and other sports, but we are also having a Ninja Spy Day with obstacle courses, laser tag, and a warp wall. All days will have competitions and prizes for the winners, but not all competitions will be strictly based on traditional sports.

Is lunch going to be provided?

No. Each child will be required to pack a lunch every day. We know that many children have food allergies and diet restrictions, so to make things easier we ask that you would send a lunch with your children each day. We will have coolers and refrigerators to keep things cold if need be.

Is my 5 or 6 year old going to be overwhelmed or exhausted from Sports Camp?

No. We have put together a separate schedule for the K-1st graders. They will still take part in many of the same tasks, but they will also have more small group time as well as a rest time in the afternoon. That said, we will still play a lot of games, so by the end of the week we expect them to sleep good for you.

Are their scholarships or financial assistance available to help cover the cost of Camp?

Yes. We have scholarships for anyone in need. Please call us at 330.966.6868 or email sports@firstfriends.org to get an application for assistance.

Can I pay less for less days?

No. Even though we understand that some children may have to miss a day throughout the week, a lot of work goes in to forming the teams and receiving those registrations. If you are unable to make it to all the days it is fine to still register to attend, but unfortunately we are not prorating costs at this time.
