General Information

Tap Dance for ages 6-8.  Tap dance is a form of dance characterized by using the sound of one’s tap shoes hitting the floor as a percussive instrument. As such, it is also commonly considered to be a form of music. First Friends Dance teachers will give your child a combination of tap styles in a loving and safe atmosphere. Inspirational music and devotions will be shared in each class.

Beginner Dance Skills Taught: Counting Music, Moderately Complicated Combinations, Core Awareness, Performance Skills, Correct Alignment

Develop: Pointed Toes, Straight Legs, Turns, Jumps, Rhythm, Correct Sounds with Tap Shoes, Dance Memorization, Creative Expression, Teamwork, Beginner Level Ballet and Tap Vocabulary, Class Structure, Intermediate Dance Etiquette

Master: Minimally Structured Improv, Beginner Dance Etiquette, Classroom Attire, Hygiene, Foundational Tap and Ballet Movements

 

Date/Time:  Fall 2020 Session Cancelled due to Covid 19 limitations.  Please click on the link to read our Fall Sports Announcement at top of website page.  Check back in November for information about winter session.

 

Fee:  $75.00  2020 Spring fee, subject to change.
Spring Costume fee (TBA) due at Parent Meeting/First Week of Classes.

 

Refund Policy:  $5.00 fee retained if refund requested.  No refund will be given to any student who withdraws after the first week of classes. An exception may be granted at the discretion of the staff due to medical reasons only. Further, no refund will be given to any student removed from the class during the course of the season for disciplinary reasons.

 

Registration: Registrations are available one month prior to start of class: They are accepted online with debit/credit card or at church Welcome Desk with check/cash; in the Sports and Recreation Office until TBA, or until the class fills up, whichever occurs first. Late registrations will be accepted if space is available. Office hours are 9am-3pm.

What do students wear to dance class?
The uniform is listed below.  A wrap skirt or skirted leotard is required for age 6+.

    • Black Cap-Sleeve Leotard $10.00
    • Revolution Dancewear Classic Pink Convertible Tights  $10.00
    • Pink Ballet Slippers – Canvas accepted if you have them OR Leather $15.00
    • Black Wrap Skirt $10.00
      The uniform for boys is:
    • White T-shirt tucked into black sweat pants.  Black ballet slippers required if child continues with dance classes.

Other uniform requirements:

No words/illustrations on the derriere.
Students with long hair must pull the hair back.
Shorts longer than fingertip length.
Shirts must cover midriff and be either wide strapped tank or t-shirt.
