General Information

The FFC Middle School/High School League is designed for girls (6-12th grade) who have had some experience playing basketball and are looking for fun and fellowship at the community level. This league is geared toward developing teamwork skills in addition to individual playing skills.   The league is divided into two divisions according to skill level.

This league runs from March to May each year.  Fifteen minutes before each practice/game once a week we take time to share biblical principles with the players and encourage them to pursue a life with Christ in our huddle time. Players and coaches are also encouraged to memorize scripture verses weekly.

2025:  Devotions will be held on Fridays each week 15 min before the practice/game beginning April 4.

Note: According to OHSAA regulations, girls who have participated on school teams may play in First Friends Leagues. However, there may not be more then three players from the same school team on any recreational team. This rule excludes seniors and grade 6 students.  There is a link under “Parent Resources” for the OHSAA regulations.

Dates:  March 18 – May 20, 2025 (No activity week of April 14 – 18)

Fee:  $80 Registration fee
$20.00 Jersey fee, please plan to purchase new jersey.

Refund Policy:  There will be a $5.00 fee retained for refunds. No refund will be given to any player who withdraws on or after the first week of practice. An exception may be granted at the discretion of the staff. Further, no refund will be given to any player removed from the league during the course of the season for disciplinary reasons.

Registration: Registration is available online.  Registration will be accepted online with debit/credit card payment and paper forms will be available by Friday, Nov 7 and can be turned in at the church Welcome Desk with cash/check payment. Office hours are Mon-Fri 9am-3pm.   Please register as soon as possible to secure a spot in the league.  Deadline to register is Mar 21, or whenever league fills up, whichever occurs first!   Click on the Register button above to register online, when available.

**Disclaimer: Please note that fairness and positive competition are a high priority in our program.  Thus, our league leadership reserves the right to alter team rosters/move players once scrimmages have been played in order to balance teams if necessary.   Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.

 Skill Assessments:  There are two assessments for this league.  Dates/Times:  Mar 18 and Mar 21 at 6pm

March 18 Schedule:  All girls please come at 6pm

Second assessment schedule will be posted on our website on Mar 20.

Assessments are for everyone in league.   Please attend both assessments, if you do not attend at least one assessment, you are not guaranteed a spot in the league.   Please email (sports@firstfriends.org) or call the Sports office (330-966-6868) if something happens that prevents your daughter from attending one or both of the assessments.  Please plan to arrive 15 minutes early to get checked in.   You will be receiving your new jersey before 1st game.

Practice Days/Time:    Tuesdays or Fridays at 6pm or 7pm; specific dates for practice will be posted at a later date. Team Practice Schedule will be posted on website after 2nd assessment and teams are formed.  Practice times subject to change dependent on the league size.  First practice is March 28.

The practice dates are:  Mar 28, April 1, April 4, April 8, April 25

Devotions will be held every Tuesday before the practices/ games. Please meet in the devotional room at 5:45pm each Tuesday for a short 15 minute time together.   Any player that is absent from the devotional time will miss the first quarter of the next game. Please ensure you are planning accordingly. 

Game Days:  Tuesday and Friday; Times:  6pm or 7pm  Times are subject to change dependent on the league size.   Game Schedule will be posted on website prior to first games.

COACHES NEEDED!  Please indicate on registration form you would like to coach or assist coach and plan to attend assessments and Coaches Training Meeting at First Friends Church.  ** Coaches Meeting rescheduled for Tuesday, March 18 at 7pm after the High School Boys Basketball Assessments.  If possible please plan to attend the assessments.

Policy Statement:  (Oct 12, 2017)  Please note that when we list ‘boy’s/men’s’ or ‘girl’s/women’s’ we are referring to the birth gender of the participant.  For all of our leagues, classes, unless they are designated as Coed, it is our policy that players participate within the gender designation that complies with the previous statement.  We want to thank you for your understanding and cooperation in this matter.
