General Information

Purpose–A recreational league for girls in Gr 7-12 encouraging skill development with a focus on teamwork, progressing volleyball skills and sportsmanship. Every player rotates through all positions and has equal opportunity to play.”

Winter League (Jan–March 2027)

  • League dates: January – March (2027 dates TBA)

  • Mandatory Skill Assessments: Held two times in one week and dates/times TBA

  • Practices: Mondays either 4:00 pm, 5:00pm, 6:00pm or 7:00pm

  • Games: Fridays either 5:15 pm, 6:15 pm, 7:15 pm, 8:15pm or 9:15 pm (if needed)

  • Devotional: Mandatory 15-minute devotional will be held on Mondays after practice. Players who attend practice and miss the devotional will cost their team points for the season.

  • Fee: $65 per child (+$20.00 if you need a jersey) (2026 fee subject to change)

Parent Resources 

When & Where: January – March  (dates TBA for 2027).  Practices Mondays (4:00–8:00pm). Location: All games and practices played at First Friends Church (5455 Market AveN, Canton, OH.)

Refund Policy:  $5.00 fee retained if refund requested. 50% of registration fee will be retained if refund is requested after Jan. 1st.  No refund will be given to any player who withdraws after the second week of practice. Exceptions may be granted at the discretion of the staff due to medical reasons only. Further, no refund will be given to any player removed from the league during the course of the season for disciplinary reasons.

Registration: Opens online October 2026, check back for date.  Click HERE to register online (when available)  Office hours: Mon–Fri, 9am–3pm. Deadline: date TBA,  or when league fills up, whichever occurs first. 

Special Requests: One request allowed (e.g., buddy pairing), must be mutual, not guaranteed. View our Policy on Team Rosters. Note: The Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) is the governing body of athletic programs for junior and senior high schools in the state of Ohio.  According to OHSAA regulations, there is a limit on how many athletes participating on the same school teams may play on a team in First Friends Leagues.

Divisions: Players will be split into 3 skill divisions. Divisions help create balanced competition.

Celebration:  Friday at 6pm.  Date TBA  Doors open at 5:30pm.  First Friends provides pizza, pop, water and paper/plastic supplies.  We ask families to bring a dish to share.  Please see suggested foods below.  If it is not possible for you to bring something in the assigned category and you want to bring something else, that is OK with us. 

Red Division – Salads (fruit, veggie and dressing)

White Division- side dishes such as mac and cheese, beans, potato salad, pasta, chips, vegetables, etc.

Blue Division- Desserts

Please remember to retrieve your dish and serving utensil from the food serving table before leaving. It is helpful if you will put your name on your dish and utensil.

Equipment: Required gear: tennis shoes, First Friends blue/yellow jersey, and knee pads. NOTE: No jewelry during practices or games; shorts must be modest (at least fingertip length).
