General Information

The Co-ed U17 Soccer League for children ages 13–16 seeks to grow our athlete’s soccer skills through fun, age-appropriate practices and games, while fostering skill development, teamwork, and healthy competition in a positive environment.

Fall League (August–November 2026)

  • League dates: August 29 – November 6, 2026.  End of Season Celebration on November 6. Please view details under “Parent Resources”.

  • Mandatory Skill Evaluation:   August 29 at 11:30am; if you are unable to attend, please email us at sports@firstfriends.org.  Please look for email after evaluations to see what team your child has been assigned to.

  • Practices: Thursdays at 6:00–7:15  pm.  First Practice:  Saturday, September 5 at 11:00am

  • Games: Saturdays at 11:30 am or 1:00  pm.

  • Devotional: A 15-minute devotional time, teaching the basics of Christian faith with a soccer fundamental, will conclude each Thursday practice.

  • Fee: $65 per child (includes jersey).

Coaches Needed!
Help make this year’s league a success—no experience required! We provide weekly plans and support. Coaches Training on Date/Time:  Tuesday, Sept 1 at 7pm in church lobby.   Mark your interest on your child’s registration form.

Parent Resources 

When & Where: August 29– November 6, 2026. Practices: Thursdays (6:00–7:15pm). Games: Saturdays (11:30 am or 1:00 pm). Location: First Friends Church, 5455 Market AveN, Canton, OH.

Format: 11 vs 11 with a goalie; two 35-minute halves. Score is kept.

End of Year Celebration:  Friday, November 6 at 6pm-7:30pm doors open at 5:30pm.  Pizza, pop, water, and paper/plastic products provided; families bring a side or dessert to share. Held at the church inside the gym. 

Please bring a side dish or dessert to share according to the list below.  Suggested items are not inclusive.  Please put your name on any containers and utensils you bring and remember to take them home.
U7 –   Sides (potatoes, pasta, rice, mac and cheese, beans, fresh or cooked vegetables, fresh fruit, corn bread, etc.)
U10 – Salads (potato, pasta, grain, fruit, protein, lettuce/veg salads and dressing, etc)
U13 & U17 – Desserts

Refunds: $5 retained for refunds. No refund is available after the second week, unless approved for medical reasons; none is provided if the student is removed for disciplinary reasons.

Registration: Opens online June 12, 2026.  Office hours: Monday–Friday, 9am–3pm. Deadline: August 26, or when full. Late registrations accepted if space allows, though jerseys may arrive late.

Age Requirement: Register based on age as of September 1 of the current year. Exceptions only with director approval. 

Special Requests: One request allowed (e.g., buddy pairing), must be mutual, not guaranteed. View our Policy on Team Rosters.

Equipment: Required gear: Shin guards, Size 5 soccer ball. Recommended gear: Soccer Cleats (no metal spikes), water bottle.

Weather Cancellations: Directors will monitor the weather and make cancellation decisions one hour before the start of the activity.

Pick up soccer games

Pick up games every Thursday, weather permitting at 7:15pm (during season) 7:00pm (off season) until dark.  All families are welcome to come, adults and children.  Wear your shin guards and have fun!
