General Information

We have moved our Boys Middle School Basketball league to begin in March after our local schools basketball season and opened it for Gr 6, 7 and 8.  Please check back in early February for more information.

The First Friends Sports Boys Middle School Basketball League is designed for  boys in grades 6, 7 & 8  who have had some experience playing basketball and are looking for fun and fellowship at the community level. This league is geared toward developing teamwork skills in addition to individual playing skills. For this league, intermediate basketballs (28.5) are used, and the hoop is raised to 10 feet.  The league is divided into two divisions according to skill level.  There will be a short devotional time 15 minutes before games once a week where we share biblical principles with the players and encourage them to pursue a life with Christ every week.  Players and coaches are also encouraged to memorize scripture verses weekly.

Note: According to OHSAA regulations, boys who have participated on school teams may play in First Friends Leagues. However, there may not be more then two players from the same school team on any recreational team.

League Dates: 2025:   March 17 – May 19

Fee: $80 Registration Fee 
$20 Jersey Fee – (First Friends Sports jersey required, (black/red) please plan to purchase one, if you don’t already have one.)

Refund Policy:  ($5.00 fee retained for any refund requests) No refund will be given to any player who withdraws on or after the first week of games. An exception may be granted at the discretion of the staff due to medical reasons only. Further, no refund will be given to any player removed from the league during the course of the season for disciplinary reasons.

Registration:   Registrations will be available one month prior to start of league.  Registration will be accepted online with debit/credit card payment.  Paper registrations will be available by TBA and accepted at church Welcome Desk with check/cash payment.    Church office hours are Mon-Fri 9am-3pm.  Deadline to register:  TBA, or until the league fills up, whichever occurs first.

 Skill Assessments: TBA  Please check back closer to date for your scheduled time.  Second assessment schedule will be posted on website page on TBD.

Assessments are for everyone in league.   Please attend both assessments, if you do not attend at least one assessment, you are not guaranteed a spot in the league.   Please email (sports@firstfriends.org) or call the Sports office (330-966-6868) if something happens that prevents your son from attending one or both of the assessments.  Please plan to arrive 15 minutes early to get checked in and wear jersey or shirt with a name or number on back for skill assessments and scrimmage.    You will be receiving your new jersey before 1st game.

Requests can be made on registration form, however, they are not guaranteed.  Please click on this link to view our Updated Policy on Team Rosters  Requests that affect the competitive balance of the team cannot be honored.

**Disclaimer: Please note that fairness and positive competition are a high priority in our program.  Thus, our league leadership reserves the right to alter team rosters/move players once scrimmages have been played in order to balance teams if necessary.  Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.
