General Information

First Friends Sports Ministry is moving in a different direction for boys age 14 and under by TBA.   Boys age 15 are invited to join our Men’s Softball League. We will be putting together a team(s) for age 12U and/or 14U (boys age 9-14 by TBA) travel level team (s) to compete in the Sandlot division of the Stark Summit Baseball League. There will be a short devotional time where we share biblical principles with the players and encourage them to pursue a life with Christ every week.

League Information: The Stark Summit Baseball Leagues serves youth baseball and teams of all ages in Stark, Summit and Portage Counties. This league is divided into several tiers or divisions of competition ranging from highly competitive to intermediate competition. This season we will participate as a member of the Sandlot division, the entry level program into the SSBL. Thought entry level, this division is still competitive and we will have competitive expectations for our team(s) and their players. Date/Time:  TBA

 

Fee:   $300.00 per participant (includes full jersey package of a home and away jersey, pants and a team hat). (2018/2019 fee subject to change)
$25.00 to cover the cost of indoor workouts over the winter and anticipated SSBL increase in league fees (2018/2019 fee subject to change).

 

Registration:   Please complete a registration form online or print one from this website and submit to the First Friends Sports Office, to register to try out.   CLICK HERE TO PRINT A TRAVEL TEAM TRY OUT REGISTRATION FORM when available.

After the try-outs are over, and a team has been selected if you are notified you have been selected to be on the team, please complete a Team Registration form and submit the fee to Sports Office by date TBA. Form will be available to download and print on this website, or the coach will have paper forms available at Parent Meeting after the team is picked.

 

Age Requirement MUST BE AGE 12 or under for 12U team, and Age 14 OR UNDER ON/BEFORE Date TBA.

 

Tryouts:    TBD  Players trying out should bring their own glove. Cleats are not necessary but are recommended. They can also bring their own bat as long as it’s an approved bat with a 2 3/4″ barrel maximum and a maximum -5 length to weight differential.

 

Team Selection: This team (or teams) is selected by tryout (not everyone will make a team as in past years).  The decision to take players is solely up to the coach(es) and his analysis of the needs of the team(s) he will be managing. All decisions are final.

 

Mandatory Parents’ Meeting: A Parent Meeting will be scheduled and announced at a later date.

 

Practice/Game Days:   Schedule will be announced after team is chosen.

 

Game Information:  2019 information, subject to change: Teams will play 16+ regular season games plus two tournaments (one of them being the end-of-season Sandlot Division State Tournament. We will know more details on games after the April  SSBL Scheduling Meeting.  The game schedule reflects all of our regular season league-affilliated games.  On occasion, we may incorporate scrimmages not listed on game schedule.

 

Location of Practices:  First Friends Church and possible alternate locations nearby if practices need rescheduled/field conditions are poor.

 

Home Field for Games:  First Friends Church

 

Uniform Package: Players will receive their uniform kits which are already included in their registration fee. This uniform kit will include a home and away jersey, pants and a team hat. Parents will be responsible for providing a glove, a pair of cleats (no metal cleats) and getting their players to and from games and practices..

 

Festival Date:  Date & Time TBA  First Friends will provide pizza and soda/water for everyone.  If you would like to bring a side or dessert, that would be appreciated.

Please note that when we list ‘boy’s/men’s’ or ‘girl’s/women’s’ we are referring to the birth gender of the participant.  For all of our leagues, classes, unless they are designated as Coed, it is our policy that players participate within the gender designation that complies with the previous statement.  We want to thank you for your understanding and cooperation in this matter.
