General Information

This Pre-Dance/Tap Combo class is intended for children ages 3-5, and will be a combination of 30 minutes ballet instruction and 30 minutes tap dance instruction.  Child must be potty trained.

All ages will have the following subjects covered during each session: Correct Alignment, Team Work, Combination Memory, Identifying Moods/Emotions

Pre-Dance Skills Taught: Introduce the following: Pointed Toes, Straight Legs, Turns, Jumps, 3-4 Ballet Vocabulary Words

Develop: Correct Posture, Partnering & Team Work, Minimally Structured Improv, Dancing by General Emotions

Master: Listening, Social Interactions, Beginning Dance Etiquette

 

Date/Time:  Class Sessions are normally held every Fall, Winter and Spring.  Fall 2020 Session Cancelled due to Covid 19 limitations. Please click on the link to read our Fall Sports Announcement at top of website page. Check back in November for information about winter session.

 

Fee:  $75.00 class fee (Spring 2020 fee, subject to change)
Spring Session Only: additional fee TBA for Spring Festival Costume to be paid for at Parent Meeting or during first week of classes with check/cash.
Uniform required, see Parent Resource tab for list of uniform requirements and cost.
Payment required at time of purchase/order at Parent Meeting or during first week of classes.
Refund Policy: ($5.00 fee retained if refund requested) No refund will be given to any participant who withdraws after the first week of class. An exception may be granted at the discretion of the staff due to medical reasons only. Further, no refund will be given to any participant removed from the class during the course of the season for disciplinary reasons.

 

Registration is normally available one month prior to start of session.  Registrations are accepted online with debit/credit card or at church Welcome Desk with paper form and check/cash until date (TBA), or  until the class fills up, whichever occurs first.  Late registrations will be accepted if space is available. Parent Meeting:  TBA

 

Dance Festival:  Normally held on Saturdays at 6pm at the end of each session,  inside First Friends Gym.  Family and friends are invited, free event.
Dress Rehearsal:  See instructor for schedule.

What do students wear to dance class?
The required uniform is:
  • Black Cap-Sleeve Leotard $10.00 or $15.00 (with or without skirt)
  • Revolution Dancewear Classic Pink Convertible Tights $10.00
  • Pink Ballet Slippers:  Canvas $10.00, or Leather $15.00
  • Wrap skirt if wearing leotard without skirt $10.00
  • Tap Shoes (not available for purchase at First Friends church)
  • The uniform for boys is:
    White T-shirt tucked into black sweat pants.  Black ballet slippers required if child continues with dance classes.

Other uniform requirements:

  • No words/illustrations on the derriere.
  • Shirts must cover midriff and shoulders.
  • Bottoms must be fingertip length or longer.
  • Students with long hair must pull the hair back.
