General Information

Students will learn how to relax on stage and communicate clearly to an audience, memorization, alliteration and team building. This fun class emphasizes simple techniques for focusing on character development with a faith-based approach.  Students will have the opportunity to learn through playful games and exciting improvisational workouts. A sketch will be prepared and performed each session where students have equal parts, focusing on education, not competition.

Introduce: Character Relate-Ability, Moderately Complex Scenario Scenes, Performance Concentration, Effective Non-verbal Communication. Develop: Improvisation, Speaking Voice, Pantomime, Sensory Objects, Facial Expression, Character, Setting Awareness, Partnering & Team Work, Intermediate Theater Etiquette, Classroom Structure, Memorization, Personal Confidence. Master: General Mood Recognition, Stage Direction Vocabulary, Minimally Structured Improvisation, Classroom Attire and Hygiene, Beginner Performance Courage

Spring Session 2020:  April 2 – June 6

Fee:  $55.00 class fee ($5.00 fee retained if refund requested)
No refund will be given to any student who withdraws after the first week of classes. An exception may be granted at the discretion of the staff due to medical reasons only. Further, no refund will be given to any student removed from the class during the course of the season for disciplinary reasons.

Registrations are available online and will be in the church brochure racks by March 3.  Registrations will be accepted at First Friends Church until the class is full or until April 2, whichever occurs first. Church Welcome Desk open Mon-Fri 9am-4:30pm.

Important Information


Intermediate Stage Acting is for boys and girls age 10-17.  Classes  Thursdays at 7:20pm – 8:20pm   Class held Fall, Winter and Spring Sessions

Mandatory Parent Meeting: Thursday, March 26 at 6pm at First Friends Church

Participants should wear easy to move in clothing following the modesty requirements and sneakers.  Shirts must cover midriff and shoulders, bottoms must be fingertip length or longer and no words/illustrations on the derriere.

Winter Performance Festival:  Saturday, March 14 at 6pm
Dress Rehearsal:  Friday, March 13 (see your instructor for schedule)

Spring Performance Festival:  Saturday, June 6 at 6pm
Dress Rehearsal:  Friday, June 5 (see your instructor for schedule)
